Want to know what you get for your money with the Playstation 3? Take a look below ...
The Sony Playstation 3 80GB edition is currently the most popular version of the Playstation 3 range. Sony offer 2 other versions to the 80GB edition, the 160 GB and 40 GB. The Playstation 160 GB edition is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain due to it being a special edition. The 80 GB is currently the largest hard drive edition, that's readily available to buy with the Playstation 3. The console can be brought in a number of bundles including games and accessories ( gamepads and HDMI cable ).
A major selling point to the Playstation 3 is the fantastic blu-ray player, currently rated the top blu-ray DVD player on the market today. This is mainly due to the fantastic software updates that Sony offer on a regular basis via the online Playstation Network. This ensures the blu-ray drive has the latest up to date firmware revisions. The Playstation 3 80 GB is boxed with wireless internet support as standard and HDMI output of up to 1080p resolution (please note the HDMI cable does not come boxed, needs to be purchased separately). The 80 GB edition is available in a slick black and chrome finish and also a silver and chrome effect, either way the console looks stunning!
The Playstation 3 comes free with its multimedia centre software. This allows the Playstation 3 to become a top media center system, allowing streaming of the latest movie trailers, your music collection, and even live TV! The Playstation Store also allows the user to download games off the online store, ideal for grabbing the latest games on release date.
The Playstation 3 80GB is without doubt a great console, anybody looking for a great games console and fantastic media centre software should look no further. With the added extra of a fantastic blu-ray dvd drive, the 80 GB Playstation 3 is top buy!
"So, is the PS3 worth the money Sony's asking? Yes, we think it is. The advantages the Xbox 360 had in terms of its exclusive games and superb online service are being caught up by Sony, with games such as LittleBigPlanet and the Home service coming soon. On top of that, it remains the best built, best looking and most reliable of the two. And it's still the best value Blu-ray player on the market. With a bigger hard drive, you're getting slightly more for your £300 than before, and while there's little here to warrant an upgrade from the 40GB version, this is the perfect time to buy your first PS3."
"...let's talk about value for money. As previously mentioned, you're getting a lot more than just a games console here. You've also got a future-proof Blu-ray player; a web browser; a music, video and picture viewer; an upscaling DVD player; a social networking hub; and you can even install Linux on it. Plus, this model now comes with a DualShock 3 controller. The PS3 is a brilliant, brilliant games console that will only get better over time. The PSN (PlayStation Network) is not yet up to the standard of Xbox Live, but it's on its way. And as soon as this is brought up to date, the PS3 will surely be the most desirable HD console on the market."
"As of now, the PS3 is the only console available with the best Blu-ray player on the market. This is yet another reason to consider it not only a gaming console but a fully featured, high-def media hub that can easily compete with the Xbox 360 in terms of video quality."
