Can't decide which edition of the XBOX 360 would be the best to buy?
Take a look at the following table, it should decide which edition best suits your needs:
The XBOX 360 is Microsoft's 2nd Entry to the games console market. The original XBOX was a huge success and Microsoft certainly have not disappointed with the 360 version. The XBOX 360 was officially released on May 12th 2005 at gaming conference E3. The console sold out on pre-orders around the world and as of January this year, 28 Million XBOX 360's have been sold. Quite astonishing figures.
The XBOX 360 currently can be brought in 2 flavors: Elite and Arcade. Each of these editions offer exactly the same technology inside the console and are all powered by the same software. The only difference between the 2 packages is the accessories you receive with the console.
The Arcade Edition is the budget version of the XBOX 360, but don't let this put you off, it still has enough power to play all the latest games at the same quality as the Elite XBOX 360. The Arcade Edition is bundled with a 256 MB memory card, wireless game pad, AV output cables and 5 Free XBOX Live Arcade games. The games included are UNO, Pac-Man, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2 & Boom Rocket. These games are not demo's either, they are the full retail games. The Arcade Version does lack a hard drive which means that the amount of data you can store on your XBOX 360 will be limited. You can purchase a hard drive to attach to the XBOX 360 but if you are looking to do this you may want to consider the XBOX 360 Premium Edition.
The XBOX 360 Elite is aimed at the "Pro" Gamer, and has a slightly different visual representation than the Arcade and Premium Systems. The Elite Edition has a slick black / chrome appearance and includes the same accessories as the Premium Edition but with slight differences. The Hard Drive has been given a whopping upgrade to 120GB (double the Premium Edition) and a 2 metre HDMI cable is provided for high definition quality resolution (up to 1080i). A black wireless gamepad and headset is also included along with Component and AV cables for alternate output methods. The Elite edition is also bundled with one month FREE XBOX Live GOLD membership and XBOX Live Silver membership allowing you to browse movie trailers and access the fantastic XBOX Live Marketplace.
The XBOX 360 Premium Edition is a middle ground between the Arcade and Elite versions. The Premium Edition includes a lot of the accessories the Elite Edition has, including a wireless gamepad, network cable, gaming headset and hard drive. The Premium version is a cool white and chrome in appearance and the hard drive weighs in at 60GB. The Premium Edition does include a HDMI port as does the Arcade and Elite, but the cable is not provided. The XBOX 360 Premium does come with one month FREE XBOX Live GOLD membership and XBOX Live Silver membership, handy if you need to chat to your friends over the MSN network or download the latest game demos! This console has recently been discontinued
"the Xbox 360 currently has a larger and more impressive library of games, and until the PS3 can offer some compelling alternatives, the Xbox 360 remains the better option. And if you're going with the 360 for the first time, you might as well spend that extra and get the Elite."
"When you've been anticipating something for a long time you often find yourself disappointed when you finally see/touch/use it - that won't happen with the Xbox 360! Microsoft has succeeded in pushing the boundaries of gaming, while also bringing media playback and streaming functionality into your living room. Thinking of buying a media adapter for your living room? Forget it, the Xbox 360 will do that for you."
"Everything you need to jump into the next generation of gaming and entertainment. Includes: A wireless controller. 256mb memory unit. Standard AV cable. Power cord. Family settings providing exra child security. Wireless controller requires 2 x AA batteries (supplied). For all ages."
