Want to know what you get for your money with the Playstation 3? Take a look below ...
The Playstation 2 was considered to be the best console of its era, with such a huge range of games and accessories, the competition didn't stand a chance. Sony's follow on console doesn't disappoint. The Playstation 3 still manages to produce the same exciting gameplay as the Playstation 2 did but with the extra features and spectacular high definition graphics.
Nicknamed the PS3, the Playstation 3 is packed with a blu-ray player as standard to watch high definition movies up to resolutions of 1080p! The PS3 also has a built in 3 in 1 card reader (supporting compact flash, miniSD and Sony's Memory Stick format). On the front of the console there are 4 USB ports allowing you to plug in any extra accessories (hard drive or pen drive) and charge the wireless SixAxis gamepad. The console can be stood up right or placed on its side and it looks fantastic, with its slick black polished finish it certainly doesn't disappoint!
There are currently 4 versions of the console available:
The only change in the system is the hard drive size, 40, 80 and 160 GB. The Playstation 3 comes with 2 output modes, AV and HDMI, although a component cable can be brought if your display screen supports this output. The PS3 has built in wireless internet connectivity ( unlike the XBOX 360 ) which is really handy for accessing the free online Playstation Network. Once connected online, the Playstation 3 offers a unique range of game demos and movie trailers aswell as multiplayer gaming to enhance the Playstation experience.
The Playstation 3 is currently the most expensive games console around, but it is bundled with a magnificent blu-ray player and the graphics are the arguably the best around at this present time.
"...it's still the best value Blu-ray player on the market. With a bigger hard drive, you're getting slightly more for your £300 than before, and while there's little here to warrant an upgrade from the 40GB version, this is the perfect time to buy your first PS3."
"One major boon that the PS3 does have in its favour is a region free model for PlayStation 3 games. This means that you can buy any game, from any region and play it in any machine, from any region. This is the way things should be - Microsoft and Nintendo please take note!"
"As of now, the PS3 is the only console available with the best Blu-ray player on the market. This is yet another reason to consider it not only a gaming console but a fully featured, high-def media hub that can easily compete with the Xbox 360 in terms of video quality."
