Below is detailed information about what you get in the Nintendo Wii console box...
The Nintendo Wii is quite simply revolutionary. Unlike Microsoft's XBOX 360 and Sony's Playstation 3, the Wii offers motion sensitive gameplay all crammed into a stylish white case. The Wii is the most innovate and creative games console ever created and they have done it not by creating the most graphically enhanced system, instead they have concentrated on fun unique gameplay.
The Wii uses a remote control as its main gamepad, its unique in that it houses a motion sensitive detector. This allows the remote to respond to any turn/twist/thrusting of the controller to transform into on-screen movement, its fantastic! The Wii console is boxed with everything you need to hook up to a standard ( none HD ) television. The box contains the Wii Console (and grey cradle), Wireless Remote Control, Nunchuck Adapter (connects to the remote via a cable), a sensor bar (placed on top or bottom of the television to detect movement) and a set of Scart (red white and yellow) video cables. The Wii console does support HD output, however the cable is not boxed with the console, you will need to purchase a separate component cable.
The Wii comes with internal memory storage of 512MB in size. The console also allows for input of SD cards if you run out of memory. Nintendo also provide a online server allowing you to download classic Nintendo Games from the Super Nintendo and the NES. They also offer support for Nintendo's previous console ( the gamecube ), the old style gamepads can be plugged into the top of the system. The Wii also comes with a free game, Wii Sports. This game features 5 basic sports games that give you a great feel for the console. Tennis, Bowling, Baseball, Boxing and Golf. They provide great entertainment and allow you to get a feel for the way the motion sensors work within the games. The Nintendo Wii also offers Wi-Fi support, this allows users to chat online and even play games online (like the fantastic Mario Kart).
If you're a bit of a novice with gaming, the Wii is a great place to start. It's a fantastic family console and can be picked up and mastered by anybody. Its also relatively cheap compared to the XBOX 360 and the Playstation 3, so why not grab a bargain today!
"The Wii Remote, the object on which Wii above all else relies, is a wondrous piece of design managing to be both easy to use while adding a level of depth unsurpassed by anything we've ever called a "controller" in the past. Wii is rather like a white Christmas: it may not happen often, but when it does it is well worth the wait."
"Pros: The most fun gaming experience ever. Motion-sensitivity better than PS3's tilt joypad. Great price. Sega classics available to download online.
Cons: Basic, standard-def graphics. Not all games suit the format. No DVD playback."
"Is the Wii worth picking up? It all depends on what you're looking for. If you've been clamouring for an all-purpose next-generation multimedia box with blinding hi-def graphics, the Wii will be a disappointment. But Nintendo was never competing in that arena anyway: the Wii is focused squarely on delivering fun and innovative gameplay, leaving Sony and Microsoft to battle it out at the high end."
