Wii’re Still Competing!

Although the Wii console sales have been rapidly declining and critics are saying that the Wii is on its last legs especially now the Nintendo Wii U is on its way next year, There was still a massive sale of the console during last weeks Black Friday period, where the Wii had its best Black Friday ever. The release of some brilliant new games such as Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Super Mario 3D Land helped a lot to drive sales but also the unbeatable price of the Wii boosted them enormously. President Reggie Fils-Aime said

For our Wii business, this is the first time that we’re at or below a $149 price point in the marketplace. Certainly Wal-Mart had a very strong Black Friday. They sold a Wii console with no software for $99. And overall, our value equation for both Wii and 3DS is very compelling. It’s a tough time and consumers are looking for value.

So the Nintendo Wii is still going strong and is as ever a very popular Christmas gift! Make sure to check our Wii Deals page if you want to compare the best Wii bundles and offers that are currently available!

The Gameplay

Just like its predecessors Skyrim follows the traditional non-linear gameplay style where you are free to roam the huge area of Skyrim. It takes place 200 years after the events of Oblivion where the King has just been assassinated. Tensions are high and the threat of a civil war looms. But there are many other dangers lurking, including over 30 different types of dragon’s !

Key Features

Bethesda always provide a fully immersive storyline that is accompanied by hundreds of side quests. This time they have promised that you will be able to play forever! Skyrim director Tood Howard spoke to Wired.com and said;

“The vibe of the game is that it’s something that you can play forever. The world is probably the one thing that sets [Skyrim] apart from other games, It feels really real for what it is … It’s just fun to explore.

Todd continued to talk about the multiple factions such as the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild that after completing the “main story” will continue to offer randomly generated quests created by its Artificial Intelligence known as Radiant Story. So you can continue playing the game forever!

There is guaranteed to be a few gloomy faces this Christmas when the number one item on many peoples Christmas list, The Playstation Vita, is not in our stockings!

Last week we heard the release date for the vita was on the 28th of October off a leaked flyer from retailer Blockbuster. But this week Sony Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirari stomped out that rumour and was quoted saying the release of the PS Vita in Europe and America has been delayed until 2012 but people in Japan will get there hands on it in time for Christmas. Sony had previously promised a global roll out of the vita all in time for christmas and the delay is likely to cause a big profit loss for a company recently suffering $172 million worth of damages.

Nintendo will be thrilled with the news as the 3DS is now the only 8th generation console to be out in time for Christmas. Although failing to reach initial sale targets, the recent price drop and upcoming release of some totally epic games including a new Mario Kart, Luigi’s Mansion, Star Fox 3DS and Mario World should put Nintendo in front of the other big guns.

Its not just Nintendo competing with Sony this year though, Apple have sold over 200 million devices and Android have sold more than 100 million devices both of which are capable of playing plenty of fantastic games. Many critics believe that the era of handheld gaming devices is coming to a close with the 3DS and Vita being the last. The Vita has a hefty price tag of £280 for the 3G model and Harai stated “There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price.” Despite the growing pressures demanding a price cut. The Vita will go on sale in Japan at the end of this year although an exact date is still yet to have been given.

Sony Playstation Vita

June 10th 2011 by tom

Sony had a lot to show off at E3 this week where they unveiled their new hand held console on Monday, named the Playstation Vita. Why Vita? Vita is Latin for life and this new console looks likes its going to be eating lots of your “vita”.

The PSVita is packed with awesome features including a multi-touch 5-inch OLED display, Motion sensors, Touchscreen on the rear, 3G and Wi-fi, Rear and Front Cameras, duel quad-core processors and a digital compass! making it the most technologically advanced handheld to date. Its an absolute beauty to look at also with its slim and sleek design and matt black finish. Reports tell us that the PSVita is much lighter than it appears with comfortable Analogue Sticks if not a little awkward to hold without touching the rear touch screen, plus ports for USB / Networking Cables and a Flash Card slot.

one of the most impressive things about the PSVita is the display, the visuals are unbelievable for such a compact hand held device, and combined with its dual touchscreens its going to provide some great gaming moments.

Games For Launch?

One thing that the Sony PSP was criticised for was its lack of memorable games and content, Sony However have promised to deliver better titles for the PSVita. Some of the Games planned for launch or just after include:

Uncharted:Golden Abyss

A PSVita exclusive from the Uncharted series was demonstrated on Monday showing off the Vita’s variety of controls. Using the Touchscreen to perform Stealth attacks and platforming. The Shooting and action make use of the dual analog sticks and triggers.

Ruin

An Intense Social active Role-Playing Game where you can complete quests, collect treasure sharing with friends or taking down rival lairs . Ruin is a cross-platform title between your PS3 And Vita you can save on one and resume on the other.

More titles include LittleBigPlanet, HotShots Golf, Wipeout, Little Deviants, Gravity, ModNation Racers and An excluse Bioshock game.

Prices look to be around the £279.99 for the 3G version, and the Wi-Fi Version for £229.99, Difficult to see if Sony will actually be making any profit on the sales of the console itself. Its Coming out This Fall be sure to check back on whichconsole.co.uk

Nintendo have announced that they are dropping the price of The Wii Console. Nintendo are trying to move stock ahead of the E3 unveiling of the Wii 2 in June next month and its release in 2012.

UK Retail prices are to drop by £50 next week and perhaps even more. The bundle pack with Wii Sports Resort and Mario Kart is estimated to cost around £130 and some retailers to offer £99 deal!

As well as the drop in price on the console a budget game range has been announced “Nintendo Selects” that are priced less than £20 that include: WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Mario Strikes Charged Football, Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and more.
