Deus Ex-cellent

the much anticipated Deus Ex sequel was released last week “Human Revolution” and has had an unbelievable response from gamers. The previous game was released in june 2000 on PC only and was an enormous success and quickly became one of the most successful RPG’s of its time.

The story is set 25 years before the original game in a technological thriving world and the main plot follows the character of Adam Jenson as he struggles with what has been taken. Human Revolution has a great storyline with conflicting ethics of Human augmentation and the effects that rapid technological advancement has on humanity, players are faced with many choices to make in the game weather it be the best course for completing a mission using, stealth, conversing or an all out fire fight, you have the choice. Apart from a few Main events its even possible to complete the game without fatally harming anyone. With so many choices available to the player your style of play can very unique and also gives the game the availability to play through time after time.

The most important choices to make in the game are your “Augmentations”. throughout the game you earn points called Praxis which allow you to unlock and upgrade abilities. The Augmentations are what make one player different to another as you make choices suited to your style of play. There are a huge number of side quests that are not like usual RPG side quests of “Deliver this” but instead involve multiple layers and are often just as difficult and rewarding as the main storyline missions. IGN Did say one of the downfalls to Human Revolution is when some major plot decisions are decided for you via a cut scene, and Boss fights seem much less dynamic than the rest of the game and instead see you just pumping a powerful enemy with bullets. But with such a minor breach of Human revolution code its unfair to say anything but the game has been a huge success and should stand proud as a sequel to the original.

Playstation 4 launch 2012?

A rumour recently sparked up about sony releasing there Playstation 4 in 2012. Apparently sony is beginning its production at the end of this year for a christmas release in 2012. The reports (courtesy of Digitimes) say that manufacturers Foxcon and Peagtron technology, who were responsible for the PS3, will start work on the fourth instalment in the play station range this year to meet an estimated 20 million unit stock demand.

with the revealing of the Playstation Vita, sony’s next gen handheld console its hard to believe that they have had any time to work on the Playstation 4. Though the report did not give a great deal of information, what we know so far is that the PS4 will implement a kinect motion style gaming system, and many games may be heavily augmented into a 3D universe!
Its a major suprise as before this week, estimation on a playstation 4 or even an xbox 720 were 2014 at the earliest, and many people are still estimating at these dates.

Reworked Playstation network

More rumours surrounding Sony whisper that the complete redesign of the Playstation network is almost complete. Information leaked from an unnamed source suggested the new version of the PSN will be replaced with a “Image driven” style, more similar to Xbox Live. There will be numerous of new features implemented including a new Film section built with its own database, and a new playstation store “experience.”

Just Rumours?

Eurogamer state that these rumours are just “ridiculous,” with the recent Playstation Network hacks and Sony just getting back on there feet we feel like a next generation console is highly unlikely anytime soon. So are sony rushing out a new console to compete with the the release of the Nintendo Wii-U? A number of analysts believe it is much more likely that an upgraded PS3 will be released instead. PlayStation Network Restored

Its been almost a month since Hackers caused the complete shut down of the PlayStation Network and numerous problems for Sony. On the 15th of May Sony started back up several features on the Playstation Network throughout Europe and North America.
All it takes is a small 25mb update, then a new password for your PSN account. Services that are currently online include Online gaming, Playstation Home, BBC Iplayer, Lovefilm, Netflix, Qricoty and other subscription services.

Sony have also promised a “Welcome Back” package for playstation network customers from before 20th of April including 2 choices of these selected games:

  • LittleBigPlanet
  • InFamous
  • Wipeout
  • Ratchet & Clank:Quest For Booty
  • Dead Nation

Also 30 Days Free access to PlayStation Plus and for anybody already subscribed to PlayStation plus subscribers will receive 60 days free of charge. Be Sure to check the Sony for a full list and how to get these goodies when the PlayStation Store comes back online
In Japan however the playstation network is still to go back online as the Government are blocking a relaunch until sony satisfies regulators that it has improved its security controls.
A fairly Generous offering? Well, free stuff is always great but an aged selection of games as compensation for millions of credit card details stolen? Some PlayStation Customers are calling this an insult. Here at Whichconsole.co.uk we’re just glad the PlayStation network is back online so we can get back to some hardcore gaming!

Red Faction: Battlegrounds – xbox 360 and PS3 deals

Gaming company THQ has announced it will be releasing a downloadable motor-vehicle combat game called Red Faction: Battlegrounds.

The game, in which players perform battles between robots and outer-space tanks, allows users to choose to control a variety of different vehicles, including fast-attack vehicles, heavy tanks and combat walkers, enabling them to cause havoc above ground and beneath the surface of Mars.

As with all games in the Red Faction Universe, players can destroy anything that gets in there way, from army enclosures, to other players vehicles using a variety of methods and artillery!

Developed by THQ Digital Studios UK and executive produced by Volition, Inc., Red Faction: Battlegrounds pits four players either locally or online in a variety of game modes, including Survival, Annihilate and Flag Frenzy. Players rank up and are rewarded with unique bonus content that will be playable in the upcoming Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Windows PC game, Red Faction(R): Armageddon(TM).

The Beatles: Rockband available for PS3, XBOX 360 and Nintendo Wii

The Beatles: Rockband was launched on Wednesday 9th September 2009 and has proved to be a massive hit!

There are several different accessories available with the basic setup which includes a microphones, drumset and electric guitar!

HMV current have a great offer on for the game (From £29.99) and the special edition box set (From £179.99). They also have a dedicated page for more information regarding The Beatles: Rockband, take a look!

The game is available for the PS3, XBOX 360 and Nintendo Wii but as yet is not available as a console bundle.
