Game bundles, pricing reductions and the much-anticipated release of it’s new Microsoft xBox Slim, have all been given as possible reasons behind the major increase in total sales this week. Microsoft xBox boss Chris Lewis has stated that sales have been increased by more than 10 times in total, compared with the previous week’s figures.

The “Slim” version can be bought between £185 (online), and at its RRP of £199, with the other xBox deals ranging from between £109 and £149.

Gaming company THQ has announced it will be releasing a downloadable motor-vehicle combat game called Red Faction: Battlegrounds.

The game, in which players perform battles between robots and outer-space tanks, allows users to choose to control a variety of different vehicles, including fast-attack vehicles, heavy tanks and combat walkers, enabling them to cause havoc above ground and beneath the surface of Mars.

As with all games in the Red Faction Universe, players can destroy anything that gets in there way, from army enclosures, to other players vehicles using a variety of methods and artillery!

Developed by THQ Digital Studios UK and executive produced by Volition, Inc., Red Faction: Battlegrounds pits four players either locally or online in a variety of game modes, including Survival, Annihilate and Flag Frenzy. Players rank up and are rewarded with unique bonus content that will be playable in the upcoming Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Windows PC game, Red Faction(R): Armageddon(TM).

Red Faction was available to try out at Gamescom 2010 and will be launched in March 2011.  Follow us on facebook to keep up to date with the release of Battlegrounds, and also to make sure you don’t miss out on any xbox or PS3 Battlegrounds bundles

Since the announcement of its development, there has been great debate over what the cost may be on its launch, of the Microsoft Kinect Xbox 360 and the 360 S model.

Well, the newly-announced recommended price for the 360 S version of the Microsoft xBox is a very reasonable £149.99.

The much-anticipated release date for the Microsoft Kinect, the hands-free motion control system was announced very recently as November 10th in the UK.  It is a touch expensive, retailing at £129.99, which includes Kinect Adventures. It looks a little on the pricey side, but thankfully customers should they wish, can bundle together the 360S and the Kinect for a total package price of £249.99.  This is actually a pretty good deal, and will save customers somewhere in the region of £25 to £30.

Another thing worth mentioning, is that several large supermarkets in the UK are offering up deals on Microsoft equipment. For example, Argos will give you 3 games for £10 when you purchase the 360S 250GB, which is an excellent deal.

Of course all of the best Xbox 360 deals will be available at Which Console.  Make sure you follow us on facebook to get all the latest updates on stock and cheap deals.

Nintendo Logo

The ever busy folk over at Nintendo have announced that they are in the early stages of development of yet another new model in their long line of handheld consoles.

The new console is to feature a 3D display without the need for 3D glasses or similar, this will be good news for those of you who yearn to experience three dimensional game-play but are hesitant to be seen sporting the somewhat unfashionable specs in public.

Whilst there is no official title for their latest toy as yet, Nintendo are calling it the “Nintendo 3DS” and stated that it will be backwards compatible with all previous DS games, so you need not worry about having to replace all your current favourite Pokemon and Super Mario titles.

It has been half a decade since the release of the original Nintendo DS, in which time we have been blessed with a multitude of new and improved versions of it, the lite, the DSI and the more recent DS XL. While each new incarnation of the console has offered new features and hardware, the 3DS promises to be the most significant forward step that the DS has seen.

“We wanted to give the gaming industry a head’s up about what to expect from Nintendo at E3,” Ken Toyoda, chief spokesman at Nintendo told the New York Times. “We’ll invite people to play with the new device then.”

Many in the industry are keen to hear just what technology Nintendo are implementing in order to steal a march on their rivals, and be the first company to release a fully functional portable console with an integrated 3D display. Unconfirmed rumours from Japan suggest that the 3DS will also feature “3D joysticks” as well as force feedback and much improved wireless support.

We are certainly already eagerly anticipating the release of the 3DS, and look forward to seeing Mario jump right out of our screens and into our living rooms.

Be sure to keep an eye on whichconsole.co.uk for more news on the 3DS as and when it becomes available, and as always we guarantee to find you the very best deals for it upon its eventual release.
